I know, I know.... five stars for a Red Lobster? Yep. I haven't been to a Red Lobster since the early 90s, and not by accident. I was in Port Huron to visit my mother-in-law, who has early stage dementia, and is in an assisted living facility, where the menu is, shall we say, somewhat spartan (and that's a very generous categorization.) She loves steak and she loves shrimp, so I looked around for a source of those two items, and it looked like Red Lobster was about it. I walked in to order and was directed to the bar. Glen, the bartender, is a rockstar. While I'd done some research in advance as to what I was going to order, I explained my mission, and Glen had a number of really spot on, useful suggestions. I ordered a combo plate for my MIL, with steak (and I requested that the peppercorn treatment be skipped) and "Walt's Favorite Shrimp" (fried shrimp), red potatoes for a side, and a garden salad with dressing on the side, along with an iced tea. I'm not a big seafood guy, and if I am going to get seafood, it wouldn't be at a Red Lobster. I ordered a blue cheese strip steak, baked potato, broccoli, and a garden salad, along with an iced tea. I grabbed some sugar packets for the tea. I asked Glen about salt and pepper packets (the assisted living facility is *really* bare bones - we're working to get her into a decent facility.) He said that they don't have any, but thought for a second and offered and provided two of their pre-packaged salt and pepper shakers that were low and ready to be replaced. Classy and considerate. Glen also packed lemon wedges in a children's sippy cup, saying my MIL might like to use the cup afterwards - again, really thoughtful. He provided extra napkins, extra plasticware, and even a bib. I was overwhelmed by his thoughtfulness, creativity, and consideration. I was really, really impressed by Glen, and learned that he has worked as a dietary director at an area assisted living facility. He's genuinely a standout. What surprised me even more was that the food was genuinely excellent. My steak was perfectly seasoned and prepared, and really good. The salads were very fresh and nicely balanced with croutons, red onion, and cherry tomatoes. And you can screw up broccoli, under or over cooking it; mine was done perfectly. And restaurants can screw up baked potatoes, too, and again, mine was perfectly cooked. The highly touted biscuits deserve their high touting as well. My 86 year old MIL ate every single thing in front of her (often taking another bite after saying, "I'm getting really full," so clearly she enjoyed her substantial meal. She couldn't quite finish her salad but ate every bite of everything else. This was a home run for its intended mission, and Glen's assistance and service is the major reason why. Thanks, Red Lobster, and especially, a huge thank you to Glen!

Ordered ultimate combo. Lobster so rubbery and overcooked , crablegs overcooked and soggy no taste, everything else cold. Manager said she would make sure next was better, second try was hot but lobster tasted sour and briny snd crablegs same overcooked ones micowaved warm, yuk. Didnt eat any after first taste. Worst seafood experience ever, and considering thats their specialty, wow really? Maybe some experience in the kitchen would help. Call gordon ramsey for help maybe.........

It's kind of tough to review a "Chain" restaurant... I mean, they should all be the same, but of course, they aren't. It really all comes down to the employees at that particular place and just how motivated they may (or may not) be. Now, I've always liked Red Lobster, in general, and the Port Huron (Fort Gratiot) store does a fine job. I've eaten here many times since they first opened, and I've never had a "Bad" meal. Yes, sometimes Red Lobster can be a little on the pricey side, but you can't fault this particular store for that... that is just something that is true for all the locations. They always have "LobsterFest" once a year... I think it usually starts sometime in February. I used to just "LOVE" the lobster bisk that they offered during LobsterFest, but now they don't have it on their menu at all... MAN!! Of course, they still have those "rolls" that everybody loves (biscuits, rolls, WHATEVER those things are that they put on your table). The last time I went there, it seemed like those rolls were A BIT different, but they still tasted great. Sometimes I've gotten a better Lobster Tail here then at the "River Crab". Now, I don't know if that says more about this place, (or perhaps it says more about that place), but either way... it's true.

One of the better Red Lobster I've been too actually. Service tends to be good, and since the recent construction of Texas Roundhouse, wait times are much more manageable; now we tend to wait no more than 15-20 minutes even at busiest times. Exceptions (like everywhere else on the North End) are Canadian holidays and/or Thanksgiving time, when shoppers from both sides crowd all the restaurants. Of note for our Canadian neighbors: Red Lobster's exchange rate is 80%, a bit stiffer than others.
